using 'SLAPSTICK' in a sentence....

i don't mean this in a bad way. more of a 'respect-for-my-elders' kinda way.
SLAPSTICK is a dated word.
it does not pertain to contemporary entertainment (though i would argue a few points to the contrary).

for some reason, it rubs me the wrong way when i hear that word in reference to anything post-50s.
